On November 22, 2021, at Intercontinental Hanoi Landmark 72, VNC in collaboration with Fishery Union Ilchulbong and Calisa successfully organized the Tasting day event with Olive Jeju halibut products.

Jeju Olive Flounder, considered as the national fish of South Korea, is a high-protein, low-fat, and low-calorie fish that is easy to digest and helps prevent aging. Olive Jeju halibut meat has no bones, sweet taste, unique aroma, often retains the original delicious taste when making sashimi and sushi.

Thanks to the advantage of a clean natural environment, the flounder farms in Jeju – led by Fishery Union Ilchulbong – are the largest producer of flounder in the world, accounting for more than 95% of Korea’s flounder exports. Fishery Union Ilchulbong is a corporation that manages the production, processing, domestic distribution and export of Jeju halibut. With a strict production process that meets HACCP standards and recognized fish quality, Fishery Union Ilchulbong’s halibut products have been exported around the world, including demanding markets such as North America, EU, Japan, etc. In South Korea, the halibut products are sold through large distribution chains and to luxury hotels in Jeju.

Vietnamese distributors participated at “Jeju Olive Flounder Tasting Day”

With the desire to bring high-quality Korean products closer to Vietnamese consumers, VNC, collaborating with Fishery Union Ilchulbong and Calisa (the exclusive importer of Ilchulbong halibut), connected and invited businesses distributors, and restaurants in Vietnam directly test and evaluate the taste of this specialty fish. At the event, Vietnamese businesses could learn more about Jeju Olive Flounder as well as the most suitable processing methods to keep the flavor of the fish intact, while tasting the halibut directly through two dishes – Pan-fried halibut and halibut sashimi.

After the event, the partners all expressed their satisfaction with the taste of the fish and shared that it was a great experience to enjoy such a quality halibut product. In particular, the unique combination of Jeju Olive Flounder and snow crab fish sauce from Gyeongbuk Province at the event created a special impression and excitement for the participants. The partners expressed that Olive Jeju Flounder could be more widely known in Vietnam.
